Bridgeport, Ct.—The Center for Family Justice is pleased to announce that Char Nolan, a Monroe resident, has been named its 2019 Carol Roberto Employee of the Year.
Nolan, who serves as CFJ’s Crisis Intervention Receptionist, will be honored at CFJ’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 25 at its Bridgeport headquarters.
Nolan began her relationship with the Bridgeport-based nonprofit, which serves victims of domestic and sexual violence in six local communities, as a volunteer more than a decade ago. She was soon hired as an employee to staff its Crisis Reception Desk. In her role, Nolan is often the first person at CFJ to interact with adults and children who have been impacted by trauma and abuse.
Her fellow employees, who nominated her for this honor, cited Nolan’s warmth, compassion and professionalism in working with adults and children who have experienced domestic or sexual violence as among the qualities that make her an exceptional coworker.
“Char sets the tone for establishing how our clients and visitors feel when they come through our door,” said Debra A. Greenwood, CFJ’s President & CEO. “Her caring, concern and respect for our clients and visitors, as well as her coworkers, is just part of what makes her such an outstanding employee.”
Greenwood noted that Char is also a wonderful ambassador for CFJ in the local communities it serves. She frequently represents CFJ at many community events, helping to elevate its profile and connect potential clients with the vital services they need and deserve. “One of the things that makes Char so outstanding is her constant willingness to go above and beyond what’s expected on behalf of our staff and clients,” said Greenwood. ”We’re thrilled she has received this honor she truly deserves and we look forward to celebrating her.
Nolan will receive the Carol Roberto Employee of the Year Award during ceremonies at CFJ’s June 25 Annual Meeting at 5:30 p.m. at CFJ’s headquarters, 753 Fairfield Ave. The meeting is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
