Unveiling Courage” is about raising awareness for and empowering survivors of sexual violence. The event will take place on April 2nd from 5-8pm at the CFJ main office inside the old daycare space due to upcoming construction. This year, the exhibition, titled “Every Step Matters,” will focus on the healing journey that individuals impacted by sexual violence take to go from victims to survivors. Both survivors and allies can submit art, and forms of art accepted include painting, sculpture, craft, ceramic, photograph, spoken word, mosaic, collage, dance, music, etc. To register as an artist, interested individuals can fill out the google form attached to the QR code on the flyer (or go to the link here: https://forms.gle/FoKm6hsYvwFhZcCo9) and we will be in touch with them regarding details and logistics. We are accepting submissions to register as an artist until March 13th. To RSVP to the event, you can complete the same google form.
If you plan on participating as an artist, please let us know what supplies you need ASAP and we will provide them. Volunteers will be available to assist staff members if needed to either complete group projects or help with setting up their display/artwork. As we are using the daycare space, the walls are available to hang artwork or paint on, so keep that in mind if it is something you would be interested in. The deadline for artists to submit titles and descriptions is Friday, March 20th at 5pm.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® (WAM) is a fun and engaging community awareness event that serves to engage men and boys to take the first step (pun intended) to end violence against women and girls during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Funds raised from the walk will support Elizabeth M. Pfriem Camp HOPE America – Bridgeport, CFJ’s evidence-based summer camp and year-long engagement and mentoring program for young people ages 7-17 who have experienced the trauma of domestic and/or sexual violence. Please “Walk a Mile” to help a camper hike a mile this summer!

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is produced by CFJ’s Men Against Violence initiative, a group of male community leaders who collaborate with us to take a stand against abuse of women and girls. Everyone is welcome to participate! High heels optional.

Experience an evening filled with laughter, tears, and reflections on the journey to becoming America’s top lifestyle expert – Mar Jennings! All proceeds from this event are to benefit The Center for Family Justice.
