You Can Make a Difference

Here at Connecticut’s first Family Justice Center we are saving and changing lives for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence and child abuse. Now, more than ever, we need your help to provide the tens of thousands of women, men, and children we serve in our local communities the hope, healing, shelter and support they deserve.

Help us continue to transform victims into survivors.

You can support CFJ by…

Recurring donations: Instead of writing one lump-sum check, many donors prefer to set up a recurring gift each month for $5, $10, $25, $100 – or any amount they can afford.

Donate now to set up your recurring monthly donation. At any time in the future, you can edit your donation. For more information about donations, contact Marissa Donnelly by email or call 203-334-6154, ext. 119.

Third-party events: Many supporters have given us a big financial boost by sponsoring their own events, including a rock concert, a paint and afternoon tea event, a wine tasting and an art show.

The idea is to do some entertaining you might have done anyway, such as a pool party or a movie party, and ask your friends to write a check to CFJ. Some hosts have a staff member from CFJ attend to talk about the work we do. Sofia De Carvalho, a member of CFJ’s board, puts a band of volunteers together to host a Festival of Hope every May at the Trumbull mall. The Monroe Congregational Church hosted a wine tasting, and Band Central hosted a rock concert.

For more information about third-party events, contact Lauren Cicchetti by email or call 203-993-8135.

Legacy gifts: The Legacy Circle is an initiative for people of vision. It is a Circle for those determined to keep their values alive – forever – and who dream of a safe and peaceful society for future generations.

Your bequest in your will continues the work you support today: the dream of safe, healthy communities and a world where no child or adult is ever abused again. It ensures the future viability and strength of The Center for Family Justice.

Picture the community you love free of domestic abuse and sexual assault. A lofty goal, but one your bequest will help bring to future generations. Your bequest will enable all children and adults to learn how to build healthy relationships – the most effective way to break the cycle of violence. It will help eliminate domestic abuse, sexual assault, bullying and dating violence.

Based on past portfolio returns, a bequest of $20,000 could be expected to generate approximately $1,000 per year in perpetuity.

Leaving a bequest is simple. All it takes is a quick phone call to your attorney. You can designate a bequest to endowment or the general fund in a specific amount, leave a percentage of your estate, or select assets such as securities, life insurance policies, retirement plans and IRAs.

Yes! Please let us know that you have made a bequest to CFJ. We’d like to thank you for your generosity and welcome you as a member of our Legacy Circle.

Employer Matching: Take advantage of a benefit provided by your employer and double or even triple the impact of your gift.

Many employers have matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. These donations make a tremendous difference to The Center for Family Justice and our clients.
