If you or someone you love is facing a crisis, the staff at The Center for Family Justice can help provide a plan to help keep those individuals safe. We also provide individual and group counseling for those in present or past abusive relationships.

Our counselors understand your needs and the circumstances involved in domestic abuse, sexual violence and child abuse. We provide help, assistance, guidance and support to help victims become survivors. View our crisis support services for domestic violence, sexual violence + child abuse.

Domestic violence does not discriminate. It touches everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, culture, religion, socio-economic class or education.

 

Services we provide:

We offer individual counseling for adult, youth and child victims.

We offer individualized safety planning for adults and children to meet their immediate needs, whether living in the abusive home or separate from the abuser.

We have ongoing support groups for victims and survivors of all forms of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

We offer support to parents to build parenting skills and lessen parental stress.

Kids Share offers counseling and playgroups for children while parents attend a support group. We also offer care for children while the parent is in a counseling session.

Court advocacy assists with civil restraining orders and family court issues, protective orders when there has been an arrest, and guidance through the court systems.

Sexual Violence Services: We believe you!

Anyone can be a victim of sexual violence, regardless of age, gender, sexuality or socio-economic class. Our specially trained counselor-advocates provide crisis intervention, emergency counseling, support groups and advocacy for victims of sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment or any other type of unwanted sexual contact.

Responsibility for the crime lies with your attacker. It is not your fault!

A counselor/advocate is available 24/7 to accompany you to the hospital or police station to help you through the medical and legal processes. We are trained to deal with the immediate and ongoing needs of victims.

 

Services we provide:

A sexual assault hotline, 203-333-2233, 24 hours a day/7 days a week for victims in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.

Trauma-informed crisis intervention, emergency counseling and accompaniment to area hospitals to advocate for your needs to ensure you are treated with respect and dignity at all times.

If requested, we are happy to accompany you to the police station & remain by your side through the legal processes.

Individual counseling to provide tools to assist your healing process.

Emotional support that will empower you throughout this process. We believe you.

Support groups that create an expanded support system empowering survivors to heal others as they heal themselves. You are not alone.

Advocacy services to assist you in navigating the multiple systems of care available.

Child Abuse Services

The staff at The Center for Family Justice provides crisis intervention, conducts forensic interviews and offers emotional support and counseling to children who are victims of sexual, physical and domestic violence, including cases where the children witnessed abuse.

Multidisciplinary Investigative Team

The Center for Family Justice is dedicated to bringing hope and healing to all child victims and their families. As an accredited Child Advocacy Center, it is the operating agency of the Multidisciplinary Investigative Team (MDT) of Greater Bridgeport.

 

The purpose of a Child Advocacy Center and MDT is:

To advance and coordinate the prompt investigation and prosecution in suspected cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse;

To ensure the protection of children.

To reduce the trauma to child victims;

MDT includes representatives from:

  • The Center for Family Justice
  • The Attorney General’s Office
  • State’s Attorney’s Office for juvenile matters
  • Medical and mental health professionals
  • Local police departments
  • The Connecticut Department of Children and Families
  • Victim advocates

Referring a case to MDT

  • Cases are referred to MDT by representatives from the Department of Children and Families and/or the police.
  • If you have knowledge or suspicion that a child has been abused, please call the Department of Children and Families (800-842-2288) or your local police department.
