Course Description – Online Training

This state mandated online certification training is the first step for anyone interested in working directly with victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and child abuse in Connecticut. Out-of-state and international participants can also register for professional development and a certificate of completion will be awarded after meeting all training requirements. Spots are limited and pre-registration is required. The training fee is $300. The fee will be waived for accepted interns at The Center for Family Justice (CFJ).

This intensive 40+ hour course is led by CFJ’s professional staff as well as experts from our community. Topics covered include the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse, trauma informed approaches, strength-based safety planning, hope centered advocacy, and community collaboration strategies. Sessions will also focus on state confidentiality requirements, violence prevention, working with diverse communities, community, and national resources as well as strategies for social change. Participants will take part in engaging discussions and interactive group activities.

Do you offer a certification class that I am able to attend after work hours ?
    Thanks so much

      Hi Susan!

Thank you for your question! Right now, we do not offer training after work hours. One day, we hope to offer an evening only training. I added your name and email to our list to let you know when that happens. Let me know if you have any questions or need additional information!

Is this training also self-paced online?

  3. Jenny Caltagirone says:

How do I become an intern for the fee to be waived?

  4. Yvonne says:

    1. What are the next steps after getting a certificate?
    2. Can I work in the actual field with this certificate?
    3. Are there daily assignments and a paper in every class?

  5. Katrina says:

What type of Intern are you exactly talking about? I am a CADC-Intern and I am on track to becoming LCSW-Intern soon. I have been trying to find certification for this particular area after I obtained my Anger Management Certification.

Is this approved for Nevada if you know?

  6. Carissa says:

I know that it states there is about 40+ hours of credit but how many CMEs does this count for?

  7. Carissa Corraro says:

How many if any CMEs does this count for?
