Trumbull, Ct – The public is invited to join in for food and fun while raising money for The Center for Family Justice – which provides life-saving services to men, women and children impacted by abuse and violence – during the annual Festival of Hope on Saturday, May 13.
The event will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Trumbull Mall and will feature food, crafts, and a Kids Corner. Trumbull first responders will also run a Touch-A-Truck event, and there will be games including a corn hole challenge.
CFJ Board member Sofia De Carvalho of Trumbull, who chairs the Festival of Hope and is a Trumbull resident, said she hopes families will come out to enjoy the day.
“Families will have a great time, but they will also be supporting a great cause. The Center for Family Justice is where families go for vital services,” De Carvalho said. “The staff there help people get out of abusive situations and, eventually, move on to independent, happy lives.”
Admission to the event is free, but attendees can opt to donate to CFJ if they wish.
The Center for Family Justice serves residents in six communities: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Trumbull and Stratford.
CFJ served 5,500 clients last year. The organization’s staff provide self-sufficiency programming, prevention and education classes, legal services, safety planning, and support groups. CFJ also runs a safe house and is working on a second.
“We want to let people know about what we do, that there is a place for them to go where they will be believed and safe,” CFJ President/CEO Debra Greenwood said. “Wonderful events like the Festival of Hope gives us an opportunity to connect with the community so we can continue to spread awareness.”
