Prevention

The Center provides primary and secondary prevention education and training to students K-12, college students, the general public and professionals. All presentations and trainings are tailored to specific audiences. Our Community Education & Prevention department works toward social change by promoting respectful, non-violent and healthy friendships, relationships, families and communities.

Grades K-5

Prevention education focuses on increasing knowledge and developing leadership skills with young children related to:

  • Body Safety
  • Bullying Prevention
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Empathy Development

Grades 6-12

Prevention education focuses on increasing knowledge and developing leadership skills with middle and high school students related to:

  • Bullying Prevention
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Dating Violence Prevention
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Overcoming Gender Stereotypes
  • Sexual Violence Prevention

College Students

Prevention education focuses on increasing knowledge and developing leadership skills with college students related to:

  • Bystander Intervention
  • Dating Violence Prevention
  • Engaging Men & Boys in Violence Prevention
  • Sexual Violence Prevention

General Public/Professionals

Education and training focuses on increasing knowledge about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, including child abuse. Trainings focus on trauma informed responses to victims and information about community resources related to:

  • Child Sexual Abuse
  • Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence
  • Effects of Domestic Violence on Children
  • Engaging Men & Boys in Violence Prevention
  • Family Violence and the Court System
  • Sexual Violence
